Join the ISS Research Internship at Sungkyunkwan University!

The ISS Research Internship at Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) provides an opportunity for students to engage in hands-on research within a globally recognized academic environment. Participants will work under the guidance of leading researchers while gaining practical experience in their field of study. This program is designed for students seeking to enhance their research skills and deepen their academic knowledge while experiencing life in South Korea.

How to Apply
  • 1. ISS Enrollment : Students must enroll in a total of three ISS courses, and one of these courses must be the Research Internship (ISS3320).
  • 2. Complete the Online Application : Complete the application form by April 18, 2025.
  •     Application Deadline: April 18, 2025
  • 3. Indicate Your Research Interests & Background : We will match you with a suitable lab based on your preferred field.
  • 4. Lab Assignment & Confirmation : Once matched with a research lab, students will receive confirmation and further instructions.
  • ℹ️ Research lab Placements are subject to availability, and matching is not guaranteed. If we are unable to place a student in a suitable lab, the internship course fee will be fully refunded.

Housing Information

On-campus housing is available at both Seoul and Suwon campuses based on lab placement. Early application is recommended due to limited availability. Students may also arrange their own housing if preferred.

Internship Work Requirements
  • Students must verify with their home university whether internship credits are transferable.
  • Research interns are expected to commit to full-time research (approximately 8 hours per day), though schedules may vary by lab.
  • At the end of the internship, students must submit a final research report summarizing their work and contributions.
  • To successfully complete the program, students must maintain a minimum attendance of 80% and actively participate in assigned research tasks.
  • ℹ️ As the Research Internship takes place after the ISS program ends, sutdents must ensure they hold a valid visa that covers the 4-week internship period. Please check visa requirements in advance to avoid any issues.

 

Certification
Upon successful completion, students will receive an official certificate from SKKU recognizing their research participation and contributions.
